Board Minutes 2026.01.28

The Ruthven-Ayrshire Board of Education held its regular meeting with the following in attendance: President Jill Conlon,  Director Emily Grange, Director Amy Loder, Director Heather Ruehle, Director Jamie Dodd and Director Rob Allen.  Administration in attendance included Superintendent Marshall Lewis, Principal Courtney Cook, Director of Student Services Chad Francis,SBO Josh Bader and Board Secretary Angie Woods.  Absent: Director Stephanie Fay.  All motions were unanimous unless otherwise noted. 

Call to Order: Vice President Jill Conlon  at 6:00 pm in the board room in Ruthven, Iowa. The Pledge of Allegiance was recited.

Review of District Mission Statement- Director Loder.

Approval of Agenda: Allen moved to adopt the agenda as presented. Seconded by Ruehle.  Motion carried. 

Guest:  Master Teacher Amy Sikora and Maintenance/Transportation Director Dustin Horst.

Board Learning: Horst presented to the board the need for a 12 passenger van.

Connie Reinert presented to the board and informed the new board members of what she offers to the district.

Board Members Communication:  RA’s Little League requested the use of the Titan logo on their uniforms and for fundraising.

Consent Items:  Motion by Loder to approve the Consent Items. Seconded by Allen. Motion carried.

Action Items

Activity Calendar- Motion by Dodd to approve the February 2026 Activity Calendar with the next board meeting Wednesday, February 18, 2026 at 6:00 p.m.  Seconded by Loder. Motion carried.

Music Field Trips/Competitions- Loder moved to approve the Music Field Trips and Competitions requested by Mr. Nielson.  Seconded by Ruehle. Motion carried.

Master Calendar-Public Hearing-  7:18 p.m the Public Hearing for the 2026-2027 Master Calendar began with no public comments.  Public Hearing ended 7:27 p.m.  Director Ruehle moved to approve the 26-27 Master Calendar.  Seconded by Allen.  Motion carried.

Joint Board  Meeting- Allen moved to set the joint board meeting date to Monday, February 23, 2026 in Ruthven.  Seconded by Loder.  Motion carried.

Sharing Committee Meeting- Loder moved to set the Sharing committee meeting date to Monday, March 2,2026 in Graettinger.  Seconded by Dodd.  Motion carried.

Personnel

Hires-Loder moved to approve the hire of Aiden Egertson  as Assistant Baseball Coach.  Seconded by Grange.  Motion carried.

Resignation- Allen moved to accept the resignation of custodian Colton Snavely.  Seconded by Ruehle.  Motion carried.

Informational Items

CD-11th grade, open enrolling to Spencer for 26-27

Closed Session

Director Dodd moved to go into closed session, seconded by Director Loder. Roll call all ayes: Amy Loder, Rob Allen, Jill Conlon, Heather Ruehle, Emily Grange, and Jamie Dodd.  The board went into closed session at 8:23 pm for Superintendent Review cod 21.5(1)(a).  Closed Session to review or discuss records which are required or authorized by the State or Federal Law to be kept confidential.  The board came out of closed session at 9:08 p.m.

Ruehle moved to adjourn at 9:08 pm.  Seconded byGrange.  Motion carried.
